What Is the BUS Scheme?
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) provides grants towards the cost of installing a heat pump in your home. The scheme is open to homeowners and small businesses in England and Wales.

Who Qualifies for the BUS Scheme?
You may qualify for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme if you meet the following criteria:
Eligibility criteria
- You own your home (or are a small business owner)
- Your property is in England or Wales
- You are replacing a fossil fuel or electric heating system (gas, oil, LPG or electric) — with no heat pump already installed
- Your property has a valid Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) issued in the last 10 years
Good news — two rules that no longer apply: you no longer need to have addressed EPC recommendations for loft or cavity wall insulation to qualify (this requirement was removed from the scheme) — though good insulation still helps your heat pump perform at its best. And there is no income limit and no means testing: the BUS Scheme is open to all eligible homeowners.
